Mental Health in Pregnancy

GFM The Synergy Center has teamed up with 30 other agencies in Kalamazoo County in the fight to reduce the disparity in infant deaths. GFMSC offers mental health services to help women suffering from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders including postpartum depression.

The services include an initial evaluation, referral for medical evaluation and management, short-term psychotherapy and referrals to community agencies and/or providers.

Your First Appointment

For an appointment, you can either be referred by your healthcare professional or contact the clinic directly for an initial assessment by calling 269-323-1954. The scheduler will request that you complete a packet of information to be shared with the mental health professional at the first visit. This packet can be mailed, emailed or picked up at the clinic.

During your initial assessment, you will see a clinical social worker or clinical psychologist. Your doctor will follow you for medication management as needed and the social worker of clinical psychologist will see you for brief psychotherapy.

We see women with many different conditions including:

  • Pregnant women with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Women who are suffering from postpartum mental health or substance abuse problems.
